Struck Goes Low on Day Two in Nebraska

Arkansas Tech University’s Avery Struck matched the round of the tournament on day two and led the Golden Suns to a third-place finish among a field of 16 teams at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Spring Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.

Struck fired a final-round 2-under par 70 at Awarii Dunes Golf Club in Axtell, Neb., to tie Northeastern State University’s Baylee Price for the low round of the tournament.

A sophomore from Halfmoon Bay, British Columbia in Canada, Struck shot 79 in the opening round and completed the two-day event with a 149 total. She finished third in the individual standings.

The Golden Suns had team scores of 321-297 for a 36-hole total of 618. Northeastern State won the team title with a two-day total of 607, and Price took the individual title with rounds of 75-70 for a 145 total.

Anna Frandsen (T-16th, 80-74-154), Caroline Fredensborg (T-23rd, 79-80-159), Pia Nunbhakdi (T-29th, 83-77-160) and Jessica Sachs (T-35th, 86-76-162) also contributed to Arkansas Tech’s third-place team finish.

The Golden Suns will return to action at the Henderson State University Bear Bank Classic April 4-5 in Mountain Home.
