Stringer Collects GAC Weekly Award

Arkansas Tech University running back Braden Stringer was named Great American Conference football co-offensive player of the week on Monday, Nov. 6.

Stringer carried 16 times for a career-high 230 yards and four touchdowns in the Wonder Boys’ 48-10 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Saturday.

The 230 yards represent the sixth-highest single-game rushing total by an Arkansas Tech player in the 103-season history of the program.

A senior from Blanchard, Okla., Stringer ranks third in ATU history in career all-purpose yards (3,612) and 12th in program history in career rushing yards (2,072).

Stringer shared the Nov. 6 GAC offensive player of the week award with Allie Freeman of Ouachita Baptist University. Freeman caught eight passes for 121 yards and three touchdowns in the Tigers’ 45-42 win over Southern Arkansas University on Saturday.

With the victory, Ouachita Baptist (8-2 overall, 8-2 GAC) remained tied with Arkansas Tech for first place in the GAC standings with one week remaining in the regular season.

The Wonder Boys (8-2, 8-2) will close out their 2017 football regular season by hosting Harding University (7-3, 7-3) for a 2 p.m. GAC contest at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field on Saturday, Nov. 11.

If Tech wins, it will be assured of no worse than a share of the GAC championship.

Party at the Plaza, the pre-game tailgating celebration outside the stadium on Centennial Plaza, will begin at noon.

Game tickets ($10 adults/$5 students and senior citizens) will be available at the stadium ticket office during Party at the Plaza. Admission will be free with a valid ATU identification card.
