The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns will have to wait at least one more day to begin their 2011 softball season.
The doubleheader scheduled for Friday, Feb. 11, between Arkansas Tech and William Woods University (Mo.) has been cancelled because the field at the Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex will not be ready for play. Russellville received approximately seven inches of snow on Wednesday, Feb. 9.
Arkansas Tech was scheduled to host the fourth annual Tech Slam Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 12, and Sunday, Feb. 13, but that event also fell victim to the winter weather.
The Golden Suns will open their 2011 softball season on Monday, Feb. 14, with a noon doubleheader against East Central University. Admission to the Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex will be free.
