Softball, Volleyball Teams Top 8 in Service

Arkansas Tech University’s reputation for community service among its student-athletes only continues to grow.

Two ATU teams have reached the final eight in a nationwide, bracket-style competition that measures each team’s community service hours and participation rate during the 2019 calendar year.

The NCAA Helper Helper Community Service bracket started with 64 teams. As of Monday, April 1, the ATU softball team and the ATU volleyball team are among the last eight teams remaining in the competition, which features teams from all levels of NCAA (Divisions I, II and III).

The other teams in the final eight are the women’s field hockey team at the University of Louisville, the women’s lacrosse team at Alma College, the women’s soccer team at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, the women’s swimming team at Davis and Elkins College, the softball team at Emporia State University and the softball team at Minnesota State University-Mankato.
