Softball Suns Take Two From NSU Game One: Tech 9, NSU 1 Two Northeastern State errors after two were out in the bottom of the second inning allowed Arkansas Tech to plate seven unearned runs on its way to a 9-1 triumph in the opener. Courtney Colunga was 3-for-3 with two runs batted in and Chelsea Reeves was 1-for-2 with two RBIs for the Golden Suns. Tech starting pitcher Jalissa Gum (2-1) limited the RiverHawks to one run on six hits over five innings. The game was stopped after the fifth inning due to the mercy rule. Game Two: Tech 1, NSU 0 Reeves’ walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave Arkansas Tech a 1-0 win in the finale. Her base hit to right center field brought Ashton Long home with the game’s only run. Carlie Caruthers and Sydnee Clark combined on a six-hit shutout for the Golden Suns. Caruthers started and received no decision after allowing four hits over five innings. Clark (8-8) pitched the final three innings to earn the win. She surrendered two hits.]]>
