Softball Suns Go 2-2 at OBU

Game One: OBU 4, Tech 0 Abbi Frakes tossed a five-hit shutout to lead Ouachita Baptist to a 4-0 victory over Arkansas Tech in the series opener on Friday. Frakes (10-14) struck out seven batters and walked none. Game Two: Tech 11, OBU 0 Whitney Robinson was 4-for-4 with three runs batted in to pace a 14-hit barrage by Arkansas Tech in an 11-0 win over Ouachita Baptist in game two on Friday. Ashley Keen went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, Ashley Savage drove in two runs and Siarra Gomez hit a solo home run for the Golden Suns. Tech’s Sydnee Clark (11-9) started in the circle and earned the win by limiting the Lady Tigers to no runs on one hit over four innings. Carlie Caruthers recorded the final three outs in relief. The game was stopped after five innings due to the mercy rule. Game Three: Tech 4, OBU 2 Clark induced a game-ending double play to secure her second win of the weekend and a 4-2 Arkansas Tech victory over Ouachita Baptist in Saturday’s first game. Clark (12-9) allowed two runs on four hits while striking out seven. Courtney Colunga delivered two doubles for the Golden Suns. She scored two runs and drove in one. Tech’s Jalissa Gum had two RBIs and Ashton Long drove in one run. Game Four: OBU 5, Tech 4 Kailey Madden’s RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning turned out to be the game-winning hit as Ouachita Baptist topped Arkansas Tech 5-4 on Saturday in the final game of the series. Parrish Reed came in to score on the Madden base hit, which broke a 4-4 tie. OBU starting pitcher Macy Nantz (1-3) worked through the sixth inning before giving way to Frakes, who pitched a scoreless seventh inning for her third save of the season.
