Softball Suns Extend Winning Streak

Game One: Tech 5, SNU 4 Ashley Savage hit a two-out, solo home run to left field in the top of the eighth inning to propel Arkansas Tech to a 5-4 victory over Southern Nazarene in game one Friday. Sydnee Clark (15-9) made the one-run lead stand up in the last of the eighth by retiring the Crimson Storm in order to cap a complete-game pitching performance. Clark struck out five batters and allowed four runs on seven hits over eight innings. Whitney Robinson went 5-for-5 with a run home run, one run batted in and two runs scored for the Golden Suns. Tech’s Courtney Colunga was 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Game Two: Tech 9, SNU 1 Chelsea Reeves’ three-run home run in the top of the first inning helped set the tone in a 9-1 Arkansas Tech victory in game two of its doubleheader against Southern Nazarene on Friday. Reeves finished the game 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Ashley Keen and Jalissa Gum added three base hits apiece. Colunga and Shanna Davidson both had two hits. Victoria Huie (10-13) pitched a complete game for the Golden Suns. She held the Crimson Storm to one run on six hits over five innings. The game was stopped after the fifth inning due to the mercy rule.  ]]>
