SNA Sends Care Packages to Troops

The Arkansas Tech Student Nurses Association and River Valley Military Outreach are sending care packages to troops in Afghanistan and Iraq to show their support.

Students prepared the boxes to send needed items overseas. The group raised hundreds of dollars to purchase things to send and collected numerous donations.

Additionally, the organization received a $250 donation from the Kappa Rho-at-large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau to help defray the shipping costs to send supplies to our servicemen and women.

This is the fourth set of care packages SNA has sent overseas. They send a set of packages once each semester.

Sigma Theta Tau is the honor society for nursing. The Kappa Rho-at-large Chapter is a combination of ATU and UCA faculty, students and nurses in the community.

Nelda New, president of the Kappa Rho-at-large Chapter, recognized the Arkansas Tech group in a letter stating, “We applaud your work.”

Jeffrey and Carey Bosold play an integral part in the process of sending the care packages. Jeffrey is President of the River Valley Military Outreach and Carey is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Arkansas Tech. Both graduated from the nursing program in 1992.
