Sophomore Evan Smith of Mansfield was named the 2011-12 Arkansas Tech University Fishing Club angler of the year during an end-of-year celebration at Williamson Hall Dining Room on Thursday, May 3.
Smith is majoring in fisheries and wildlife management at Arkansas Tech. His parents are Annette and David Smith of Mansfield.
Christy Austin, advisor for the Arkansas Tech Fishing Club, presented Smith with his award.
The rest of the top six in the final standings for the angler of the year award were as follows:
- Runner-Up: Aaron Sarna
- Third Place: Jordan Mullenix
- Fourth Place: Evan Barnes
- Fifth Place: Clayton Schuh
- Sixth Place: Adam Zimmerman
Tech Fishing Club members accumulated points based upon their performance and participation during the 2011-12 academic year.
