Approximately 100 high school students will visit the Arkansas Tech University campus on Friday, Oct. 26, for an Oktoberfest 2012 event hosted by the Department of English and World Languages.

“Oktoberfest 2012 at Arkansas Tech is a German cultural event designed to provide high school students with the opportunity to learn about German speaking countries, the German program here at Arkansas Tech and to show the students that learning German is easy and fun,” said Gabriele Haulmark, visiting instructor of German.

Arkansas Tech students currently enrolled in German classes and members of the World Languages and Cultures Club will operate four learning stations at Dean Hall and Hindsman Tower from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday.

High school students will learn about German crafts, computer games, dance, chocolate and Oktoberfest traditions. They will also participate in a barrel relay and eat a German-themed meal at Chambers Cafeteria.
