Zach Skelton’s complete-game pitching performance highlighted a 4-2 Arkansas Tech University baseball win over Southern Arkansas University at Goodheart Field in Magnolia on Friday night.
Skelton (3-5) limited the Muleriders to two runs on five hits over nine innings. He recorded a season-high 10 strikeouts.
Tech’s Collin O’Neil broke a 2-2 tie with a single in the top of the eighth inning that sent Josh Watkins home with the go-ahead run.
Dylan McDearmon provided the Wonder Boys with an insurance run by knocking in Marcus Wilson with a single in the top of the ninth.
Mulerider starting pitcher Kenneth Tabor (7-2) allowed three runs, two of which were earned, on five hits over seven and one-third innings.
Austin Bishoff was 2-for-4 with a home run for Southern Arkansas.
The Wonder Boys (17-21 overall, 9-13 GAC) and the Muleriders (22-13, 13-9) will play a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday in Magnolia.
