Arkansas Tech’s Rosie Silva has earned the Great American Conference player of the week award for the final week of the 2011-12 regular season.
A junior guard from Caracas, Venezuela, Silva averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 5.7 steals per game while leading the Golden Suns to a 3-0 record last week.
Her play helped Arkansas Tech defeat Harding 73-62, Ouachita Baptist 80-70 and Southern Arkansas 93-58 as the Golden Suns (22-3 overall, 13-3 GAC) clinched the inaugural GAC regular season championship outright.
Silva had a school-record 12 steals in Tech’s win at Harding. She scored a career-high 27 points in the victory at Ouachita Baptist.
The Golden Suns will take on Southeastern Oklahoma State in the first round of the GAC Tournament at Bruin Field House in Bartlesville, Okla., on Friday, March 2. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
