Shure to Compete in Miss Arkansas

It is still February, but Arkansas Tech student Naomi Shure is already thinking about her summer plans.  Shure, a senior from Alma, was recently crowned the 2010 Miss Lake Dardanelle, and with the win she will compete in the Miss Arkansas Pageant this July in Hot Springs.

Shure said she decided to compete in order to have the opportunity to win scholarship money to help finance her education.  She adds, “The scholarship I received will pay for the rest of my college so that definitely played a role in my decision.”

While the Miss Arkansas Pageant is still several months away, Shure says she plans to start preparing early.  She adds, “I’m already preparing for Miss Arkansas by looking for a new talent song and getting fit now so that I don’t have to panic later.”

As Miss Lake Dardanelle, Shure says she will work to educate others about domestic peace and will work to raise money for a local women’s shelter.

Shure believes her previous pageant experience will help her prepare for the Miss Arkansas Pageant.  She competed in Miss Arkansas last year as Miss Arkansas Tech and says she now knows “what it takes to prepare and change for Miss Arkansas.”

Shure is one of two Arkansas Tech students who will be competing in Hot Springs.  Hannah Williamson was crowned Miss Arkansas Valley last year and will also compete in the pageant.
