SGA Meets to Discuss Constitution

Members of the Arkansas Tech Student Government Association will meet tomorrow to discuss and vote on a proposed new constitution.

Changes in the proposed constitution include defining the process of filling a vacancy on the SGA Senate and the creation of new senator positions that will be filled by members of several student groups on the Arkansas Tech campus.

Charissa Bazarow, senator and chair of the Constitution Committee, says senators have been working since October to draft an updated constitution.

According to the SGA Constitution, any changes must be approved by a two-thirds majority.  Once changes have been approved, they must be voted on by Arkansas Tech students, and SGA officials say that will take place during a special election.
