Service Excellence Initiative Moves Forward

Arkansas Tech University took the next step in its service excellence initiative for faculty and staff on Tuesday, Oct. 4, when the service excellence subcommittees met for the first time.

Sparked by visits to campus by customer service expert Teri Yanovitch during the 2015-16 academic year, Arkansas Tech has adopted the following service standards in order to create and foster a culture of service excellence among its employees on its campuses in Russellville and Ozark:

  • Respectful
  • Knowledgeable
  • Helpful
  • Professional

In addition, the university has adopted the following service philosophy statement:

  • We create a collaborative culture of excellence by providing an exceptional experience for each individual.

With those standards and that philosophy statement as its guides, a design team comprised of faculty and staff created the following leadership actions and subcommittees to correspond with each action:

  • Communication and Awareness
  • Recruitment
  • Orientation and Training
  • Measurement
  • Service Obstacle System
  • Recognition and Accountability

During their initial meeting on Tuesday, the leadership action subcommittee members reviewed the tenets of service excellence, learned about the subcommittee structure and participated in discussions about how their subcommittee will contribute to a culture of service excellence at Arkansas Tech.
