The Arkansas Tech University College of Applied Sciences will host an engineering camp this summer for students entering eighth or ninth grade. The camp will last from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. daily from July 7-11 at Corley Hall, which is located at 1811 North Boulder Ave. on the main campus of Arkansas Tech in Russellville. Enrollment is limited to 25 participants. Applicants should have strong computer skills and have an interest in a technical career that could include engineering. “Participants will experience hands-on learning through various laboratory activities,” said Dr. Daniel Bullock, associate professor of electrical engineering. “Since the camp is run by current faculty, campers will have the opportunity to discuss academic plans and career paths. In addition, participants will interact with current engineering students to get information on how to plan for and navigate through their undergraduate career.” Cost for the camp is $250, which covers the costs of food, program activities, a camp T-shirt and a Sparkfun Inventor’s Kit. The application deadline for the engineering camp is June 20. Interested students may fill out an online application at www.atu.edu/engcamp or send e-mail to dbullock@atu.edu for more information.
