Savage Storm Sweeps Series From Suns

Southeastern Oklahoma State completed a four-game Great American Conference softball series sweep of the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns with a pair of wins in Durant, Okla., on Sunday.

The Savage Storm (24-12 overall, 16-4 GAC) defeated the Golden Suns 7-1 and 8-0 on Sunday. Southeastern Oklahoma State extended its softball winning streak to nine consecutive games.

Audra Rhudy went 1-for-3 with a home run and three runs batted in for SOSU in Sunday’s first game.

Rhudy (15-8) held the Suns to one run on six hits in six innings to earn the win in the circle.

Victoria Huie drove in Arkansas Tech’s only run of the day with a third-inning single to center field.

Kesley Reding (6-1) tossed a five-hit shutout for the Savage Storm in Sunday’s second game.  

Natalie Magie, Jessica Black, Maddie Roncketto, Ashton Long and Maurie Lewis had one hit apiece for the Golden Suns (11-17, 5-9) in game two of the doubleheader.

Arkansas Tech will host Southwestern Oklahoma State for a four-game GAC series at the Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex in Russellville on Saturday, March 31, and Sunday, April 1.

Radio station KCAB 980 AM will broadcast all four games of the Tech-SWOSU softball series.
