Arkansas Tech’s Natalia Santos is the Gulf South Conference West Division women’s basketball player of the week for the period ending Tuesday, Dec. 14.
Santos, a 6-foot-2 junior forward from Sao Paulo, Brazil, scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the nationally fifth-ranked Golden Suns’ 69-39 win at Lambuth University on Saturday.
It was the second double-double of the season for Santos and the 13th double-double of her two-year career at Arkansas Tech.
Santos is averaging 20.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in 2010-11. She leads the GSC in scoring and field goal percentage (.589) this season, and she ranks among the top 16 players in NCAA Division II in both of those categories.
Arkansas Tech (7-1) will host Alabama-Huntsville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16, at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville.
