Rucker Wins Individual Title in Heber Springs

Arkansas Tech sophomore Graham Rucker won a three-man playoff on Tuesday to capture the individual title at the 2011 Natural State Golf Classic in Heber Springs.

Rucker (photographed) fired rounds of 73 on Monday and 72 on Tuesday to post a 36-hole score of 3-over par 145.

That landed him in a tie for first place with fellow Wonder Boy Jack Garrett (70-75-145) and Tanner Owens of Rogers State (74-71-145) at the end of regulation.

The trio went on to a sudden death playoff, which Rucker won on the second hole.

Arkansas finished third in the team standings at the Natural State Golf Classic, matching their highest finish of the year.

The Wonder Boys posted team scores of 296 on Monday and 297 on Tuesday for a 36-hole total of 593.

Champion Rogers State (287-296-583) and runner-up Delta State (300-288-588) were the only schools in the 15-team men’s field to finish in front of Arkansas Tech.
