Giovanni De Nicolao’s layup with two seconds remaining gave the University of Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners a 91-89 exhibition men’s basketball victory over Arkansas Tech University at the UTSA Convocation Center in San Antonio on Monday night.
Arkansas Tech led NCAA Division I member UTSA by as many as 13 points in the second half, but Nick Allen scored all 16 of his points after the intermission to spark the Roadrunners to the win.
Trevon Woods led the Wonder Boys in scoring with 24 points. He was 5-of-10 from beyond the 3-point arc.
Tech’s Montrell Williams added 20 points, while Bennie Lufile contributed 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots. Grant Prusator knocked down 4-of-11 tries from 3-point range and had 14 points.
The Wonder Boys made 15-of-39 3-point attempts (39 percent).
UTSA’s Jeff Beverly led all scorers with 28 points. The Roadrunners finished with a 49-36 rebounding edge.
Arkansas Tech will play its second and final exhibition men’s basketball game in preparation for the 2016-17 season at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, when the Wonder Boys host Livin’ The Dream at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville.
