ResLife Staff Spotlight: Brown Hall

The staff at Brown Hall has been selected as the next group to receive the Office of Residence Life Staff Spotlight.

The Resident Director Appreciation and Recognition committee developed this honor as a way to recognize everyone on the staff for their dedication and hard work.

Additionally, the recognition program allows residents of the hall and the campus community to get to know their leaders.

Here is some information about each member of the staff:

Resident Assistant Jeff Massanelli is a journalism-public relations major from Scott. He hosted a Zombie Walk program for his residents and their friends to enjoy. He chose to come to Arkansas Tech because he fell in love with the campus and could see himself living here. He became an RA by chance, but remained one because he likes being a part of his resident’s lives and he has a passion for the job. His favorite saying is, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

Resident Assistant Ty Turner is a freshman hospitality food and beverage management major from Greenwood. He loves being an RA because it allows him to meet other people. He enjoys spending time with friends, playing video games and hiking. His favorite candy is Laffy Taffy. He hosted a program this semester called “Can You Survive?”

Resident Assistant Thomas Meares is a sophomore geology major from Fort Smith. He became an RA to be able to have an income during the school year and build people skills. He enjoys hiking, sports and playing music. His favorite quote is, “If at first you don’t succeed, get up and try again.” His favorite candy is Swedish Fish.

Resident Assistant Kenny Houser is a junior information systems from Texarkana. He hosted a Super Bowl party for the men in Brown Hall. He likes being an RA because he gets to talk to a lot of people he may not have otherwise met, and it helps him build conversation skills. He enjoys playing video games, being part of Alpha Tau Omega, computer programming, playing golf and spending time with awesome people.

Resident Assistant Erich Washausen is a senior health and physical education major from Prairie Grove. He chose Arkansas Tech because of a scholarship, but stayed because of the lasting friendships he made. He enjoys running, playing ultimate Frisbee and going to concerts. His favorite program so far has been the NCAA Tournament Bracket Pool.

Resident Assistant Hayden Davis a sophomore history major from Benton. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, hiking and playing golf. He came to Tech because of a scholarship and enjoys being an RA for the community. He likes sitting in his room doing homework and his residents stopping by to chat. His favorite candy is a Milky Way.

Resident Director Jeff English is a second year graduate student in the emergency management program. He has a bachelor’s degree in emergency management from Arkansas Tech. English has lived on the Arkansas Tech campus since 2006. “I’ve seen it grow into what it is today,” he said. His favorite class was Introduction to Film. He loves movies and he used to class for relaxation time. His favorite color is blue and his favorite TV show is Smallville.
