The staff at South Hall and Garden Park has been selected as the next group to receive the Office of Residence Life Staff Spotlight.
The Resident Director Appreciation and Recognition committee developed this honor as a way to recognize everyone on the staff for their dedication and hard work.
Additionally, the recognition program allows residents of the hall and the campus community to get to know their leaders.
Here is some information about each member of the staff:
Resident Assistant Jordan Lewis is a junior vocal music education major from Greenbriar. She is a member of Phi Mu and serves as the RA for Garden Park. As an RA, she enjoys meeting new people and helping others find their place on campus. She chose to attend Arkansas Tech because of a scholarship, but stayed here for the comfort level. “It’s very hometown-ish,” she said. Lewis enjoys music, playing video games, and any sport except golf.
Resident Assistant Mia Patterson is a sophomore nursing major from Greenville, Tex. She is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and resides at South Hall. Patterson said she wanted to become an RA because she needed a job, and her favorite part of the job is meeting new people. She said she enjoys Tech because it is close to home, but just far enough away. Her favorite candy is watermelon Sour Patch and her favorite quote is “Go big or go home.”
Resident Assistant Ashley Harden is a junior Spanish education major from White Hall. She is a member of Delta Zeta and resides at South Hall. She looks forward to hosting breakfast for her residents during finals. Her favorite aspect of her job is having a leadership role on campus. Her favorite quote is from Albert Einstein. “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” She chose Tech to get the full college experience close enough to home. “I fell in love with the small town environment here at Arkansas Tech. Also, it has one of the best foreign language programs in the state, and I knew I would have many opportunities to excel,” Harden said.
Resident Director Whitney Eagan is a first year graduate student in the college student personnel program. She has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In her time at Tech, she has most enjoyed Family Day and her American College Student class. Eagan likes John Lennon’s statement, “Life is what happens when we are busy making other plans.” In the rare occasion of free time, she relaxes with entertainment from music, books, songs and movies. Some of her favorites are Glee, Bones, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, and True Blood.
