Resident Assistants Give Back to Russellville

Arkansas Tech resident assistants are taking a break from training this morning and are spending time giving back to the local community.

The resident assistants are participating in service projects with several community groups in Russellville today.

Kevin Solomon, assistant director of housing, says the students are working with the Department of Parks and Recreation to complete painting at one of the city parks.

Additionally, some students are also volunteering at organizations including Main Street Mission, the Boys and Girls Club and the United Way.

The resident assistants at Arkansas Tech participate in several volunteer opportunities throughout the year, and Solomon says that Arkansas Tech students living in the residence halls are also encouraged to get involved and give back to the local community.

He added, “The Russellville community embraces and supports Arkansas Tech in so many ways.  We encourage our students give back to the community, and we try to teach residents the importance of philanthropy as part of their learning experience at Arkansas Tech.”
