Reddies Top Wonder Boys 89-80

A string of nine consecutive made field goals by Henderson State University midway through the second half propelled the Reddies to an 89-80 Great American Conference men’s basketball win over Arkansas Tech University at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia on Thursday night.

The Reddies (4-11 overall, 3-7 GAC) ended their four-game losing streak, while the Wonder Boys (9-7, 4-6) saw their losing skid reach five consecutive games.

Kevin Kozan and Tavian Pomlee paced Henderson State with 18 points apiece.

Arkansas Tech’s Andrew Guillory and Freddy Lee both established new season highs in scoring. Guillory poured in 20 points, while Lee finished with 19 points. Tyler Corley scored all 12 of his points in the second half for the Wonder Boys.

The Reddies shot 60 percent from the field, including 13-of-19 (68 percent) from 3-point range.

The Wonder Boys will welcome the University 0f Arkansas-Monticello for a 3 p.m. GAC contest at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Saturday, Jan. 23.

Tickets ($5 adults / $3 senior citizens and students) will be available at the door. Those with a valid Arkansas Tech identification card will be admitted free of charge. Radio station KCJC 102.3 FM and www.arkansastechsports.com will have live coverage.
