Record-Breaking Win for Wonder Boys

Arkansas Tech broke a 58-year old school record for men’s basketball margin of victory by defeating the Ecclesia College Royals 114-37 at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Monday night.

The Wonder Boys’ 77-point victory broke a record established during the 1952-53 season when Arkansas Tech defeated Arkansas State-Beebe by 73 points (134-61).

Tech (3-1) jumped out to a 26-4 lead with 10:26 left in the first half. It was 54-8 with 3:05 to go until halftime and 59-16 at the intermission.

The Wonder Boys went on to lead by as many as 80 points in the second half.

Johnie Davis led Tech with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Jeremy Dunbar and Jared Williamson were next with 17 points apiece, while Matt Haney hit 6-of-8 from the field and finished with 14 points.

Ridas Pulkauninkas made it five Wonder Boys in double figures by scoring 11 points. He made 3-of-5 from beyond the 3-point arc.

Tech shot 64 percent (48-of-75) from the field and 15-of-28 (54 percent) from 3-point range. The Wonder Boys forced Ecclesia into 31 turnovers, which Tech converted into 45 points.

Travis Smith scored 13 points for the Royals (1-7).

Arkansas Tech will visit West Alabama for a 4 p.m. game in Livingston, Ala., on Saturday, Nov. 27.
