The Student Government Association of Arkansas Tech University – Ozark Campus sponsored a “Meet the Candidates” Forum on Monday October 25 at 3:00 p.m. in the Student Services’ Conference Center.
Candidates attending had an excellent opportunity to discuss regional issues with Arkansas Tech – Ozark students, and with the Ozark Community.
The format for the event allowed each candidate two minutes for to introductions and to provide the basis of their platform, followed by a moderated question and answer session. The students and community members were asked to submit questions to the panel on note cards, and the moderator then directed questions to the appropriate individual.
The moderator was Michael Tilley, editor of The Citywire, an online publication that covers news and events in the Fort Smith region.
The candidates in attendance were: U.S. Congress, Third District, David Whitaker and Rogers Mayor Steve Womack; Arkansas State Representative, District 83, Leslee Milam Post; and Ozark Mayoral candidates Josh Freeman, David Garmoe, Orla Larsen, Rick McClellan, Carol Sneath and Richard Yarbrough.
