Main Street Russellville will host a special event to welcome Arkansas Tech students back to Russellville. The Destination Downtown event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, Sept. 23.
During the event, there will be food and drinks available for students in attendance beginning at 5 p.m.
Additionally, students will also receive goodie bags with items from many of the downtown area businesses.
From 5-8 p.m. Destination Downtown will feature live music from local bands, and there will be a street dance on the stage at Depot Park from 8-10 p.m.
A fashion show presented by III’s Company will take place at 7:30 p.m. inside the Depot.
As part of the event, students will also be able to take place in a scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt will take students to area businesses, and participants will have the opportunity to win Downtown Dollars by taking part in the hunt. Downtown Dollars may be used at area businesses in downtown to purchase items.
Betsey McGuire, executive director of Main Street Russellville, said, “This is our way of introducing to Tech students what local businesses have to offer. We are in such close proximity to Arkansas Tech, and we want students to see for themselves the shopping and dining opportunities available in Russellville.”
Main Street Russellville will also provide transportation to and from downtown for Arkansas Tech students who wish to participate.
