Professor to Speak at Old State House Museum

Arkansas Tech University professor Dr. Thomas DeBlack will be part of a guest lecture and book signing hosted by the Old State House Museum next week. The lecture and book signing will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

“Arkansas: A Narrative History” was written by Dr. Jeannie M. Whayne, professor of history at the University of Arkansas; Dr. Thomas A. DeBlack, professor of history at Arkansas Tech; Dr. George Sabo III, professor of anthropology at the University of Arkansas; and Morris S. Arnold, a jurist of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.  Dr. Joseph Swain, assistant professor of geography at Arkansas Tech, served as geographer for the project.
The original edition of the book was published in 2002, and the second edition has been updated and expanded to include three additional chapters and enhanced maps. During Tuesday’s lecture,  DeBlack, Whayne and Sabo will offer commentary about the second edition of the book.  Following the lecture, the authors will offer a book signing. The 600-page book is available for purchase through the University of Arkansas Press.
