Principals Begin Year-Long Program at Tech

Year two of the Leader to Leader program for K-12 principals from around Arkansas began this week at the Arkansas Tech University Center for Leadership and Learning in Russellville.

Twenty-three principals from a variety of school districts are enrolled in the 2011-12 program, which gives educational leaders a chance to share information about their common challenges and solutions.

Dr. Merle Dickerson, superintendent of the Van Buren School District and director of the Arkansas Tech Center for Executive Leadership, serves as facilitator for the discussions.

The program was founded in fall 2010 to provide principals with the same kind of professional development opportunities that superintendents have received from the Arkansas Tech Center for Executive Leadership for the past five years.

Participants in the 2011-12 Leader to Leader program for superintendents met at the Arkansas Tech Center for Leadership and Learning for the first time on Friday, Aug. 26.
