Polar Bear Plunge Today

Today is the day for Arkansas Tech Polar Bears to take the plunge in Lake Dardanelle.

The Polar Bears are inviting all Tech students to join them in the Witherspoon parking lot today at 3:30 p.m. to carpool to Lake Dardanelle. Organizers say they expect approximately 75 people, but hope for more.

The group will have t-shirts available today and throughout the rest of the week at the Hughes Hall front desk. The cost is $10.

The money raised from braving the frigid water will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Additionally, this event is a Life Skills program and participants will also be educated about how to survive if they were to fall into very cold water.

“It’s one of those college experiences that you can look back on and think how awesome it was, and we do something to help others out along the way,” said Christopher Terrell, an organizer of the event.
