The Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus chapter of Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) has kicked off its third annual diaper drive to benefit the Arkansas Diaper Depot, a program sponsored by the Arkansas Rice Depot (ARD).
Kari Palmer of Alma places donated diapers into a receptacle for the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) diaper drive, which is taking place at Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus until Wednesday, Oct. 17. Palmer serves as treasurer for PBL, a student organization for business majors.
The Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus chapter of Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) has kicked off its third annual diaper drive to benefit the Arkansas Diaper Depot, a program sponsored by the Arkansas Rice Depot (ARD).
Until Wednesday, Oct. 17, boxes will be placed around Arkansas Tech-Ozark in which diapers and baby wipes may be placed. Or, cash contributions will be accepted by PBL Advisor Clinton Hall of Ozark, as well as in the Office of Student Services.
PBL will transport the materials to ARD’s headquarters in Little Rock, near where the group will be participating in the PBL Fall Leadership Conference Friday, Oct. 19, and Saturday, Oct. 20, at Pulaski Technical College in North Little.
PBL Treasurer Kari Palmer of Alma, said, “One in three families struggles with providing diapers for their children, meaning they might be forced to choose between buying diapers and providing necessities.”
Last year, the Diaper Depot distributed more than 420,000 diapers in 53 counties across Arkansas through a network of partner organizations and disaster relief efforts.
Tosha Peters of Mulberry, PBL vice president, said, “However, resources are limited because very few people are aware of the diaper need that so many in our state face. In order to continue to serve their needs, the Diaper Depot needs our help.”
Those wishing to help but are unable to donate diapers and wipes or make it to Arkansas Tech-Ozark are encouraged to visit the ARD website,www.ricedepot.org, and make a gift contribution designated to the Diaper Depot.
