Party at the Plaza to Offer Family Fun

Arkansas Tech University is hosting Party at the Plaza in conjunction with Family Day this weekend.

Party at the Plaza festivities begin at 4 p.m. on the Centennial Plaza, and those attending will be able to enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m., Chartwells will serve a pre-game tailgate meal on the plaza.  The meal costs $7, and it will feature several tailgating staples. Students who have a meal plan will be charged one swipe.

Music will be provided from KWKK 100.9. Additionally, young Tech fans will be able to enjoy a variety of large inflatable games for free.

Those wishing to show their Arkansas Tech spirit can enjoy face painting by the Arkansas Tech Cheerleaders and Golden Girls.

The Residence Hall Association will take part in the festivities by providing free sno-cones and cotton candy.

From 3-5 p.m. tickets can be purchased for half price from the Thone Stadium ticket office.  Pregame festivities are set to begin at 5:30 p.m. and kickoff against West Alabama is slated for 6 p.m.

The Rolling Stones tribute band Satisfaction will take the stage at 4 p.m. and is sponsored by the Student Activities Board.

Those wishing to purchase Arkansas Tech apparel will be able to visit the Arkansas Tech Bookstore location inside the stadium beginning at 5 p.m.

“I would encourage faculty and staff at Arkansas Tech to take part in the festivities as well.  Our student leaders have done a great job organizing this event, and we hope the Arkansas Tech family will show their support for all the work the students have put in,” Kevin Solomon said. Solomon is the associate dean of student success.
