Parton Named NASPE Major of the Year

Jordan Parton has received the National Association of Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) outstanding major of the year award at Arkansas Tech University for the 2011-12 academic year.

Parton, a senior from Berryville, will graduate from Arkansas Tech on Saturday, May 12, with a degree in health and physical education.

He has served as vice president of the Arkansas Tech Health, Physical Education and Wellness Science Club and was selected to the Dean’s List in multiple semesters.

Parton is the son of Alisha Elmore of Berryville and Joey Parton of St. Louis, Mo.

According to its Web site, the mission of NASPE is “to enhance knowledge, improve professional practice, and increase support for high quality physical education, sport, and physical activity programs through research, development of standards, and dissemination of information.”
