Parks Elected Chair of State Banking Board

Arkansas Tech University alumnus Rodney Parks has been elected 2012 chairman of the Arkansas State Banking Board.

Parks (photographed) worked in the banking industry for 20 years before accepting his current position as director of development for Philander Smith College in Little Rock. He is also founder and managing principal of the Parks Professional Group, a public speaking and management consulting firm.

Gov. Mike Beebe appointed Parks to the Arkansas State Banking Board in 2009. Parks previously served as a trustee for the Arkansas District Judges Retirement System. He was appointed to that post by Gov. Mike Huckabee in 2004.

A 1991 graduate of Arkansas Tech, Parks was president of the Student Government Association, the Nu Alpha chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha and the Association of Black Students during his time as an undergraduate student.

Parks’ service to Arkansas Tech continued in 2003 when he served as president of the Arkansas Tech Alumni Association Board of Directors. He is a regular participant in the annual Arkansas Tech Homecoming Golf Classic, which benefits the Arkansas Tech Alumni Association Scholarship fund.
