Orientation Sessions Designed for Parents

Arkansas Tech University is working to help the parents of entering freshmen understand what to expect when their student heads to campus this fall.

Student Services at Arkansas Tech University is hosting several parent orientation sessions throughout the summer.  The parent orientation sessions are scheduled concurrently with student orientation sessions, but the parent sessions provide information that is specifically applicable for parents.

During the parent orientation sessions, parents will hear from university personnel about the various services provided to students during their time at Arkansas Tech.  Sessions are also planned to allow parents to connect with financial aid, housing, student accounts and more.

Parents will also have the opportunity to hear from a current Tech parent and a panel of current Tech students about how they successfully made the transition to college.

During the afternoon session, parents will be able to attend a connection fair to meet with more than 20 campus groups to learn more about services and involvement opportunities for students.

Some of the groups taking part in the fair include:

  • Chartwell’s Dining Services
  • Computer Services
  • Tech Bookstore
  • Athletics
  • Academics Departments
  • Residence Life
  • Tutoring
  • Student Health Center
  • Various Campus Ministries

Organizers say the parent orientation is a great way to help parents understand their role in helping their student successfully transition to college at Arkansas Tech.
