One Step Closer: Belew Makes Top 12

Arkansas Tech University alumnus Cody Belew has advanced to the top 12 on the NBC television program “The Voice.”

Arkansas Tech University alumnus Cody Belew has advanced to the top 12 on the NBC television program “The Voice.”

Belew, a 2007 Arkansas Tech graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music, was selected by coach CeeLo Green to remain in the competition following the playoff round of the nationally-broadcast singing competition.

The Beebe native performed “One More Try” during the Wednesday, Nov. 7, broadcast.

Green used his one save to keep Belew in the contest after viewers did not vote him among the top two performers from Team CeeLo.

As a result of making it to the top 12, Belew keeps his hopes of earning a recording contract and winning the fall 2012 season of “The Voice” alive.

Belew and the rest of the top 12 will return to the stage on Monday, Nov. 12, for a 7 p.m. live performance on NBC affiliates around the country, including KARK in central Arkansas and KNWA in northwest Arkansas. Viewers will have an opportunity following the show to vote for their favorites.

The results of the fan voting will be announced on “The Voice” on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m.
