An award-winning exhibit featuring sculptures and paintings by an Arkansas-based artist will begin the spring 2021 series at Arkansas Tech University’s Norman Hall Art Gallery.

“Fractured Fantasies” by Patrick Fleming of Roland will appear in Norman Hall Art Gallery, 203 West Q Street in Russellville, Wednesday, Jan. 13, through Friday, Feb. 12.

The exhibit previously won the people’s choice award during a juried exhibit at the South Arkansas Art Center in El Dorado.

“I challenge myself to illuminate the duality of human nature through the interplay between tangible object and negative space,” wrote Fleming in an artist’s statement posted to his website. “This juxtaposition of void and physicality mirrors the presence of vice and value, pure love and pure hate present in our own humanity.”

Safety protocols relative to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic will be in place at Norman Hall Art Gallery during the spring 2021 semester. Occupancy limits and a mandate requiring face coverings will be in effect.

The ATU Department of Art will post a gallery talk featuring Fleming to www.facebook.com/ATUNormanHallGallery in lieu of an in-person event.

“Fractured Fantasies” will be followed by four exhibits of art by ATU students.

The 14th annual Juried Tech Student Competitive is scheduled for Feb. 17-March 12. Senior shows for ATU students specializing in game design (March 15-26), graphic design (March 30-April 9) and fine art (April 13-23) will complete the spring 2021 schedule at Norman Hall Art Gallery.
