Nolan Wins Bison Stampede

Arkansas Tech freshman Cheryl Nolan finished more than 11 seconds in front of the field while winning the two-mile Bison Stampede cross country meet in Searcy on Saturday, Oct. 23.

Nolan (photographed) completed the course in 11 minutes, 43.86 seconds. Harding’s Naomi Landecker finished second with a time of 11:55.28.

A native of Carlow, Ireland, Nolan was named Gulf South Conference women’s cross country runner of the week on Wednesday, Oct. 27, in recognition of her performance at the Bison Stampede.

The Golden Suns accumulated 29 points and finished tied for first in the team standings with Harding.

Kaitlin Bounds (5th, 12:46.60), Lauren Karnitz (6th, 13:01.31), Ashley Perisho (7th, 13:09.51) and Amanda Bradbury (10th, 13:24.12) also helped Arkansas Tech share the team title with the Lady Bisons.

Arkansas Tech’s cross country team will now rest and prepare for the Gulf South Conference Championships, which are scheduled for Nov. 6 in Hoover, Ala.
