Newcomer Finishes Second in ATU Debut

Arkansas Tech University’s Peerada Piddon fired rounds of 72-73 to finish in sole possession of second place among a field of 89 players at the Central Region Fall Preview women’s golf tournament in Olathe, Kan., on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A junior transfer from Barton County Community College, Piddon led the Golden Suns to a fifth-place finish in the team standings. A total of 17 universities were represented in the tournament, which was won by Augustana University with a 36-hole total of 588.

Arkansas Tech finished with a two-day team score of 617. In addition to Piddon, Pia Nunbhakdi (T-12th, 75-77-152), Holly Standing (T-29th, 78-80-158), Allie Weiner (T-49th, 82-83-165) and Avery Struck (T-54th, 86-80-166) also represented the Golden Suns at Prairie Highlands Golf Club.

ATU will return to action on Monday, Sept. 11, and Tuesday, Sept. 12, at the University of Indianapolis Invitational.
