New Monthly Service Opportunities through Student Life

New to Tech this year, Student Life is offering monthly service drives and action days for students to reach out to the community.

This is an expansion of the civic engagement program that Student Services already had in place, which includes Alternate Spring Break.

Some upcoming events for September are a food drive for Main Street Mission and an opportunity to serve lunch at Main Street Mission on Thursday, September 27 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

In October, there will be a drive to collect pet supplies for the Russellville Animal Shelter and an action day clean-up at Lock and Dam Park on Wednesday, October 24 from 2 -5 p.m.

Service opportunities for November include an Angel Tree drive. Students can adopt a family off of the tree and collect items that are on their wish list. There will also be an action day to benefit the Russellville Animal Shelter on November 27 from 2-5 p.m.

For all action days student need to meet in Doc Bryan Rotunda 30 minutes prior to the event. Additionally, all donations can be taken to the Student Services office in Doc Bryan.

Student Life Graduate Assistant, Morgan DeBlois said this will be a great opportunity for any registered student organization that wants or needs community service hours to participate.
