New Competition Encourages Students to Express Spirit

Arkansas Tech student organizations will have a new opportunity this year to showcase their artistic expression of school spirit in the sign competition that will be a new part of the homecoming festivities.

The Student Government Association is offering the sign competition in place of the previously offered canvas painting competition. The purpose of student organizations making a sign is to paint a mural of what they think represents the theme, which is “Building on Tradition, Ringing in the Future.”

The signs will be on display in front of Baswell Hall throughout the day during Homecoming, Saturday, Oct. 22.

Student organizations wishing to make a sign will need to turn in a registration form by 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3, to the Office of Student Services in Doc Bryan. Organizations will also need to submit $10 to assist SGA in supplying the materials.

SGA will provide one 4 by 8 sheet of plywood, two 2 by 4 by 12 boards, along with two hinges. All of the materials may be picked up when registration forms and fees are submitted.
