Arkansas Tech University student Desha Nelson has been named the 2010 recipient of the Phyllis Smith Memorial Scholarship from the Arkansas Business Education Association.
Nelson is a senior business education major from Russellville, and she was honored for her scholastic efforts at the Arkansas Business Education Association annual conference in Hot Springs earlier this month.
Dr. Linda Bean, associate professor of business, serves as Nelson’s advisor at Arkansas Tech and says Nelson is deserving of the honor. Bean added, “She has the skills and demeanor of a great teacher. I look forward to working with her in a professional educator capacity.”
Upon graduation from Arkansas Tech, Nelson hopes to teach business students in a public school.
