NCAA.com Names Pinkston Player of the Week

Arkansas Tech University sophomore place kicker and punter Trevor Pinkston is the NCAA Division II national special teams player of the week in recognition of his performance in the Wonder Boys’ season opener on Saturday.

Pinkston made 3-of-3 field goals, including what proved to be the game-winning 25-yard field goal, in a 16-14 Arkansas Tech victory over Bacone College.

It was Pinkston’s debut in the green and gold after transferring in from Navarro Junior College (Texas).

In addition to his three field goals, Pinkston also made an extra point and punted four times for an average of 32.8 yards per punt. Two of his punts were downed inside the Bacone 20-yard line.

Pinkston was also named Great American Conference special teams player of the week.

Tech will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 6, when it hosts Missouri S&T for a 7 p.m. non-conference game at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field.
