Dr. Jeanine L. Myers, professor of mathematics at Arkansas Tech University, has earned admission to the 2025 Higher Education Resource Services (HERS) Leadership Institute.
According to information provided by the HERS organization, the institute “is a transformational leadership development program for higher education professionals, founded to fill leadership pipelines across the United States with dynamic leaders.”
The 2025 HERS Leadership Institute is planned for June 9-18 at Colorado School of the Mines in Golden, Colo.
Myers is one of only six 2025 HERS Leadership Institute participants selected to receive a HERS-Luce STEM Leader Fellowship that will support her attendance at and participation in the program.
As a HERS-Luce STEM Leader Fellowship recipient, Myers will participate in monthly peer coaching circles led by HERS STEM initiators, assist in selecting and engaging with the 2025-26 fellows and advise the HERS team on a framework to sustain the HERS-Luce STEM Leader community.
“I am excited about this opportunity to enhance my leadership potential through this nationally-recognized program for women in higher education,” said Myers. “I am grateful for the fellowship and the resources it will provide. The people that I meet and the knowledge that I gain from them will help me contribute to the development of solutions that will benefit ATU students and my faculty colleagues as we work together toward continuous improvement. This is also a great opportunity for me to have an impact on developing women in STEM leaders across the nation.”
Myers earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematical sciences from Baylor University, a Master of Science degree in mathematical sciences from Clemson University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in mathematics from the University of Arkansas.
After teaching mathematics at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith for five years, Myers joined the ATU faculty as associate professor of mathematics and head of the ATU Department of Mathematics in 2016.
She added the duties of ATU interim assistant vice president for student success during the 2020-21 academic year and was promoted to professor of mathematics effective July 2022. Myers served as ATU associate vice president for academic affairs from July 2022-January 2025.
Myers also has experience teaching mathematics at Clemson University, Alice Lloyd College (Ky.), the University of the Ozarks and the University of Arkansas. She has served as chair and vice chair of the Oklahoma/Arkansas section of the Mathematical Association of America.
