Don Bailey to Present Concert Saturday

 

The Arkansas Tech University Department of Music welcomes a special guest musician to campus as part of the Casey Performance Series.

On Saturday, flutist Don Bailey will present a recital in the Witherspoon Building auditorium.  The program begans at 7:30 p.m. and is free to those wishing to attend.

During the concert, Bailey will present several works by famous composers including Poulenc, Muczynski, McTee, Clarke, and Martin. Bailey is a board member of both the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra and the New York Flute Club.  He has served as president of the Texas Flute Society and the Louisiana Flute Society.

Bailey has performed throughout the world at various festivals and conventions.  He has performed in Colorado, France, Italy and at several National Flute Association Conventions.

Throughout his life, Bailey has studied from several distinguished flutists including Julius Baker, Michel Debost, Alain Marion, Judith Mendenhall, George Morey, Marcel Moyse, and Albert Tipton. To learn more about Saturday’s concert, contact the Department of Music at 479-968-0368.
