Moses to Speak on Life of Ira Sanders

Arkansas Tech University faculty member Dr. James Moses will speak as part of a lunch series presented by the Arkansas Humanities Council and the Clinton School of Public Service next month.

Moses, professor of history, will discuss the life of Dr. Ira E. Sanders during the “Legacies and Lunch” event at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 4. The event will take place at the Central Arkansas Library System Ron Robinson Theater, which is located at 100 River Market Ave. in Little Rock.

Sanders served as rabbi at Congregation B’nai Israel in Little Rock for 38 years.

Sanders, a champion of social justice, was founder of several philanthropic organizations including the Arkansas Lighthouse for the Blind, the Arkansas Eugenics Association and the Urban League of Greater Little Rock.

Moses is the process of writing a book about Sanders entitled “Like Fire Shut Up in My Bones.”
