Morris Returns for Reading

 

The Arkansas Tech Department of English will soon be welcoming back alumnus Nick Morris to give a public reading of his recently published collection of gothic horror fiction, Tapeworm, on Friday, Nov. 19 in Witherspoon Room 126 on Tech campus.

The reading will take place on Friday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in Witherspoon Room 126.

Morris’ reading is free and open to the public.

A graduate of Centerpoint High School, this Glenwood native was editor of 2004-2005 Nebo and managing editor of The Arka Tech newspaper He graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of fine arts degree in creative writing from Arkansas Tech in 2005.

He received his masters degree from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, in 2007 where he edited their literary magazine, Bombay Gin. His first collection of fiction just been published by Monkey Puzzle Press.

Morris said he is most influenced by the works of William S. Burroughs, Hunter Thompson, and Flannery O’Connor.

“I write to tell stories that I would want to read, stories that are not being told  by Hollywood or the publishing houses manufacturing airline fiction,” Morris said.
