Mock Interviews Begin Today

Numerous employers are on the Arkansas Tech campus beginning to take part in the annual “Job or No Job: Mock Interviews.”

The annual event, hosted by the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) is designed to help Arkansas Tech students prepare for the job search by practicing their interview and résumé skills with real company representatives.

Amanda Smith, project leader, says the interviews give students the chance to hear from industry professionals.  She adds, “This is a great way to simulate the type of interview students will have when they are searching for a job.  While students hear about interviews from their professors, the ability to practice these skills is very helpful.”

Students taking part will sign up for a time and then will have a mock interview with representatives from one of the companies taking part.  Following the interview, the students receive feedback on their attire and résumé.

Participating companies include St. Mary’s, Belk, ABF Freight, Bank of America, First State Bank, Nabholtz Construction, Jackson Hewitt, NEW, Conagra, May Construction and Tyson. The companies are not necessarily looking to hire based on these interviews, but have in the past.
