Mitchell Re-elected President of Arkansas AAUP

Arkansas Tech Professor of Philosophy Jeff Mitchell was recently re-elected as President of the Arkansas Conference of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP).

Mitchell’s next two year term will begin on Sept. 1 and end Aug. 31 of 2013.

The AAUP is a national non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the principles of academic freedom and shared governance in higher education.

AAUP membership is open to university faculty members, administrators, graduate students and the general public.

Founded in 1915, AAUP defends academic freedom and tenure, advocates collegial governance and develops policies ensuring due process.  The  Arkansas Conference was reactivated in 1992 and now has members on most campuses in the state.
