Miss Tech Deadline Extended

Young women between the ages of 17 and 24 who are interested in becoming Miss Tech 2012 have until Tuesday to sign up for the competition.  The deadline was today, but it has been extended due to inclement weather.

One lucky lady who wins the crown and the title of Miss Tech 2012 will represent Arkansas Tech in Hot Springs this July at the Miss Arkansas Pageant.

More than $18,000 dollars in scholarships and prizes will be awarded this year, including a two-semester tuition scholarship for 12 hours each semester for the winner.

The competition consists of a private interview, physical fitness in swimsuit, artistic expression in talent, and poise in evening gown and on-stage question.

Contestants must submit a photo, copy of birth certificate and a current transcript with the local pageant forms found on the Miss Arkansas Pageant website.

There is no fee to enter the competition, but contestants are required to raise $100 for Children’s Miracle Network, which is the national platform of the Miss America Organization.

The Miss Arkansas Pageant is an official preliminary to the Miss America Pageant, which provides more than $45 million in scholarships, making it the leading provider of scholarships for women in the United States.

The pageant, sponsored by the ladies of Delta Zeta, will be held Friday, Feb. 24, in Witherspoon Auditorium.

All information should be submitted to Dr. Jim Collins, executive director of the pageant and professor of horticulture, in Dean 124B. For more information call 479.970.1066.
